Education & Training

Our programs welcome riders of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. Whether a first-time rider discovering the magic of partnership or a returning equestrian refining balance and precision, each participant learns through patience, empathy, and trust — the same principles that guide our horses.

Every lesson, every brushstroke across a horse’s coat, every quiet moment in the barn is an invitation to grow — in confidence, compassion, and community.

Riding Lessons for All

Our certified instructors teach both English and Western riding, with lessons tailored to each rider’s goals and abilities. We focus on more than technique — we teach body awareness, mindfulness, and communication through gentle guidance and positive reinforcement.

From private one-on-one sessions to small group classes, every rider learns the art of partnership — how to listen, respond, and lead with compassion.

Outcome: Riders gain confidence, coordination, and emotional awareness that extend far beyond the arena.

Horsemanship & Groundwork Education

True horsemanship begins before you ever climb into the saddle. Our groundwork and equine-care lessons teach participants to understand a horse’s body language, manage safety with confidence, and care for tack, grooming, and stable maintenance.

These lessons foster respect, responsibility, and mindfulness — the foundation of ethical, empathetic horsemanship.

Outcome: A deeper connection with horses, an appreciation for caretaking, and life skills grounded in patience and empathy.

Youth & School Partnerships

Our youth and school programs introduce students to the natural and emotional intelligence of horses. Through hands-on experiences and curriculum-aligned workshops, children learn about teamwork, communication, and resilience — often discovering new ways to express themselves and connect with others.

Outcome: Enhanced social-emotional learning, leadership skills, and a lasting sense of accomplishment for every young participant.

Clinics, Camps & Continuing Education

We host seasonal camps, clinics, and professional workshops that bring together riders, volunteers, and experts for immersive learning. From equine behavior seminars to community riding clinics, these events strengthen our shared understanding of horse welfare, land stewardship, and human growth.

Outcome: A vibrant community of lifelong learners dedicated to equine ethics, personal growth, and giving back.

Learning That Lasts

Every lesson at Perkerson Mill is an act of connection — between horse and human, teacher and student, land and community.
We teach not only how to ride, but how to listen, breathe, and lead — lessons that stay long after the reins are set down.

For us, education is the bridge between healing and empowerment.

It’s how we honor our vision: to enrich lives and strengthen the community through the timeless bond between people and horses.
